Being neurodiversity-affirming means recognizing that neurological differences such as Autism, ADHD, learning differences, and more are natural variations of the human brain - not flaws to be “fixed.” Instead of trying to make you fit into narrow boxes, neurodiversity-affirming counselling honours your unique ways of thinking, feeling, and experiencing the world.
Neurodiversity looks different for everyone, and my role is to meet you where you’re at - whether you’re autistic, ADHD, both, or exploring what these identities mean for you. Together, we can build strategies that honour your needs and celebrate your strengths.
Some areas I often support clients with include:
Support for navigating a world not always designed with neurodivergent people in mind
Processing the impact of late diagnosis or self-discovery
Strategies for sensory needs, routines, and self-regulation
Building self-acceptance and celebrating autistic strengths
Support with focus, organization, and time management
Coping with overwhelm, restlessness, or impulsivity
Exploring self-compassion in the face of past challenges or stigma
Finding ways to use ADHD strengths to your advantage
Strength-Based
Together, we’ll focus on your strengths and passions, while also exploring the challenges you want support with.
Respect for your Experiences
You’re the expert in your own life. I value and trust your perspective, and I won’t pathologize or dismiss your experiences.
Collaborative & Flexible
Sessions are paced and structured in ways that work for you - whether that means using visual tools, offering breaks, or adjusting communication styles.
Safe Space
This is a space where stimming, or communicating in ways that feel natural are not just welcomed, but respected.
Too often, neurodivergent people encounter environments where they feel pressured to hide parts of themselves. Therapy should be the opposite - a place where you feel safe, respected, and free to show up exactly as you are.
If you’re looking for counselling that embraces your neurodivergent identity rather than asking you to change it, I’d love to work with you.
